Why Reed Diffusers Finish Faster in Bathrooms
Bathrooms are one of the most popular places for a reed diffuser. They instantly make the room feel fresher, more inviting and add a touch of everyday luxury. However, many people notice their diffuser seems to run out much faster than it does elsewhere in the home.
The main reason is humidity and temperature. Every hot shower or bath fills the room with warm, moist air, increasing the rate at which the fragrance evaporates. If your bathroom also has underfloor heating, a heated towel rail or receives direct sunlight, the diffuser oil will evaporate even more quickly.
Airflow also plays a role. Opening windows, extractor fans and even frequently opening and closing the bathroom door creates movement around the reeds, encouraging more fragrance to disperse into the room. While this gives a stronger scent, it also means the liquid is used more quickly.
If you'd like your diffuser to last longer:
Position it away from direct heat sources and sunny windows.
Avoid placing it directly beneath an extractor fan.
Turn the reeds less frequently if the fragrance is already noticeable.
Choose a slightly cooler area of the bathroom where possible.
A reed diffuser that finishes more quickly isn't necessarily a fault—it's often a sign that it's working harder in its environment. Every room is different, and factors such as temperature, humidity and airflow all influence how long your diffuser will last.
